Laboratory, advanced manufacturing and data center tenants carry power requirements that routinely exceed the electrical capacity originally provisioned for commercial buildings. Across the Bay Area, new and expanded utility service is subject to extended interconnection and upgrade timelines, often measured in years.
A property without a credible path to power is difficult to lease, sell or finance. Tenants will not commit to a building that cannot serve their load, and the utility schedule is outside the owner's control.
The Solution: A Dedicated Power Plant at Your Property
Vespene develops, finances, constructs, owns and operates an on-site power generation facility that delivers firm, dedicated capacity to your switchgear. The plant operates independent of the electric utility, so energization follows a construction schedule and does not depend on the utility interconnection queue.
Where a property has existing utility service, that service and its meters remain unchanged. The on-site plant provides additional dedicated capacity for the load the existing service cannot support.
Independent of the Utility Queue
The plant is supplied by natural gas and configured to operate without an electric utility interconnection. Your path to power is defined by engineering and construction, which you can plan around.
Reduced Permitting Risk
Air permitting is typically the principal schedule constraint for gas-fired generation in the Bay Area. Bloom Energy fuel cells are non-combustion equipment and are exempt from the air permitting requirements that apply to conventional gas generation.
No Capital Required
Vespene provides all project capital. There is no upfront cost and no equipment on your balance sheet.
Fixed, Forecastable Payment
A single monthly energy services payment covers capacity, project administration, and operations and maintenance. Natural gas is procured directly by the end user with no fuel margin applied, and Vespene supports the setup of wholesale supply.
Compact and Scalable
The systems are modular, factory-built and suited to phased deployment. Multi-megawatt plants fit within a small portion of a site, typically in a service yard or parking area, without material impact to buildings or circulation.
Owned and Operated by Vespene
Vespene operates and maintains the plant for the full contract term. No staffing or operational involvement is required from the owner or tenant.
